A Memorable Stay at the Ritz Carlton, Phulay Bay Thailand

We flew down to Krabi International Airport from Bangkok’s Don Muang Airport – our flight was at 630am a bit early for my likening, but nonetheless the adrenaline of a stay at the luxury resort, propelled me out of bed quite early that morning. We snatched the first row in the plane somewhow – the fligth was only a bit more then an hour – but after we landed we drove for 2 hours to the resort.

Arriving at the entrance, we were whisked away from the reality of daily life into another world – a world of refined elegance, quiet and a private butler to answer to our ever whim. Was it fresh fruit we wanted, a spa appointment, a drive into town. The butler would arrange all of this. She showed us to our private villa.

The first thing I noticed was the remarkable size of the bed – it was almost the size of my bedroom – a bit of an exaggeration but with some current of truth. And some fresh snacks, Thai style of course was waiting as soon as we entered our luxurious cocoon.

Then it was off to see the pool. Wow, infinity like, it overlooked the grandeur of Phulay Bay with its stunning limestone karst formations dotting the waters in the distance. All we needed was a Capirinha to complete the moment. The poolside bar was more then happy to deliver their version of this Brazilian drink. They nailed it – it was as fine as any Capirinha’s I enjoyed in Sao Paulo – the part of that country that invented this amazing drink.

The most taxing decisions at places like this are ‘what to drink’, ‘when to eat’ ‘do I want to swim or do I want to sleep’?
